Ode to Darla

As I have mentioned numerous times before. I have a great life with many great people in it. Strangely enough one of my best and strongest relationships is with my truck, Darla. A reliable old gal, she has always taken me where I need to go in a relatively timely fashion. She revs her engine at the mention of adventure, but she also knows how to pick up speed right before we get home, as if she knows a warm bed awaits me. Not only has she been a reliable set of wheels, she is also my home. She keeps me warm in the cold winter nights, dry on rainy evenings and safe when strange people come snooping around. Needless to say, I love her very much.

But over time, we grow up and sometimes that means growing apart. I do love Darla, but just because I love her doesn't mean that we are what we need right now. So today, I say goodbye. To Darla, my first real truck love. Darla, you have been the best truck a boy could ask for, but I'm afraid you are not the truck I need. So I bid you goodbye with teary eyes and a heavy heart. No one can ever replace your six cylinder heart that was so pure and adventurous.

Many of you knew Darla, spent time with her, shared a laugh and more than a few miles. We will never be able to replace her. But we must soldier on, and for those of you wondering, "well now, just how are you going to get around?" I will tell you that I have found a new girl, Gabby, who many of you will meet soon enough. But for now, we remember Darla Dodge...
