Baby Chainsaw!

A few days ago there was a mighty wind storm that blew through SLC. Shingles were flying off the roof, branches coming off of trees like missiles and in some cases entire trees came down! What a storm it was, a storm that came with opportunity. The day after the storm one of my friends posted a picture to fb, a tree had fallen in her back yard! Being the good samaritan that I am (and in need of fresh firewood) I asked if I could come over and take the tree. It turned out to be a win-win, she got her backyard back and I got a truck full of firewood! I need to back up a second though, so I can tell you that I didn't have a chainsaw. I wasn't about to tackle an entire tree without one so I went to the Home Depot and snagged a 14 inch electric chainsaw. I was skeptical, such a small saw and electric? Meh, it was fifty bucks so why not give it a try? Holy mother of chainsaw! I was impressed from the very beginning! For such a small (and lightweight) little saw it packed a punch! After using it for 5 hours it was still going strong, I could not believe it. Any ways, it was a great day. I got to have some fun with a new toy, my friend got her yard back, and I got firewood. Today was a very good day.

Renovation Day

We built this awning the other day and wouldn't you know it, the very next day it snowed on us. The snow weighed the canvas down and it looked like it was going to come apart, so today we renovated it. Witness the magic.
